The Durham Girls' Choir offers two levels of music study and performance. Senior-level choristers continue to develop good vocal technique but the focus of this ensemble is building choral skills through performance. Singers develop musicianship through the performance of a diverse range of intermediate to advanced choral repertoire. In addition to performance-based learning, choristers also experience composer and clinician workshops, as well opportunities for travel.
Candidates should have an appropriate tone and should be able to match pitch. In addition, singers should have some vocal experience (previous membership in a choir/musical ensemble or private music instruction) and should have a basic knowledge of music notation and score-reading. Sight reading skills and good musicianship are skills that will aid choristers in this ensemble.
