Gillian is thrilled to join the Durham Girls Choir! She is an elementary music teacher with the Durham District School Board, and has been a life long member of the Durham music community, performing in several local instrumental and vocal ensembles. She's also a busy mom of two children, one of whom began her own foray into violin studies this year. Gillian graduated Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts, where she studied violin performance under Jerzy Kaplanek, as well as choral music and music education under Elvera Froese and Lee Willingham. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Education from Brock University, and completed qualifications in both vocal and instrumental music, as well as an Honours Specialist qualification in history. She now leads several school instrumental and vocal ensembles, and also performs around the GTA with a small folk band.
